A Four-Day Luxor Itinerary Around the 2 August 2027 Eclipse

This suggested 31 July–3 August plan puts the eclipse at the centre of a Luxor stay while keeping sightseeing and travel on separate days. It is a planning example, not a fixed package or a promise of site access.

31 July: arrive and settle in

Arrange your arrival transfer and check in. Keep the first evening simple: review your observing location, organiser’s contact details and transport plan. Test the equipment you intend to use and make sure every traveller understands the arrangements. Avoid building your programme around a last-minute connection on eclipse morning.

1 August: West Bank sights and a site check

Discuss a morning visit to Medinet Habu, Hatshepsut’s temple or the Valley of the Kings. Ask which tickets and guiding are included. Use the rest of the day for rest and, if access is permitted, a rehearsal at the viewing position. Confirm the departure and return meeting points.

2 August: protect the observing window

Reserve the day for the eclipse. Follow the organiser’s timetable, arrive before observations begin and keep water, shade and your approved solar viewers accessible. Do not insert a long temple visit or intercity journey into the same window. Afterwards, allow time for the return transfer and a relaxed meal.

3 August: flexible departure or an extra visit

Choose a short visit or departure according to your transport schedule. Karnak, Luxor Temple or a Nile outing can be discussed as optional additions, with opening times and availability checked separately. Share this outline with the hotel so it can quote only the accommodation, transfers and activities you actually need.
